In Saturday’s match against number nine ranked Flagler College, the Lee University Lady Flames Lacrosse Seniors were recognized during a special ceremony before the game.
The Lady Flames ended their final regular season game with a loss to the Gulf South Conference leading Saints 18-6 making them 2-3 in conference play.
In the first quarter the Saints got off to a quick start offensively scoring two goals within the first two minutes of the game. However after that, Lee’s Brittney White took matters in her own hands by scoring three straight goals in a row.
The third one was assisted by junior Hannah Vecsey.
Shortly after that, Flagler’s attacker Carley Tepel responded by scoring three out of the four goals for the Saints to finish out the quarter.
The well-balanced attack continued in the second quarter for the Saints.
Flagler scored five goals in the second quarter alone and did not allow the Lady Flames to get a single point on the board.
In the third quarter, the Lady Flames were able to close the gap by a couple
of points with the help of midfielder Kat Sweeny scoring her 22nd goal of the season and White scoring her fourth goal of the game.
Similarly to the second quarter, the Saints dominated the fourth quarter scoring wise. Tepel continued her outstanding performance by scoring two more goals in the fourth quarter making it seven on the day for her, making it back-to-back games with seven or more goals for her.
The Lady Flames finished 9-8 on the season and will have a rematch against Flagler Friday April 26 in the GSC Tournament in St. Augustine
