McLemore Announces Qualifying Dates For 3rd Annual Friends Open

  • Wednesday, April 3, 2024

McLemore on Lookout Mountain has announced the dates of the 2024 qualifying series for the Friends Open, the annual golf tournament for members of the Friends of McLemore program.

The tournament consists of monthly qualifying rounds beginning in April and through September at the club’s Rees Jones and Bill Bergin-designed Highlands Course. The top teams from each qualifier will earn a place in the final round on Oct. 14.

The 2024 qualifying dates are as follows:

  • April 15

  • May 20

  • June 10

  • July 15

  • August 5

  • September 23

Players of all skill levels are welcome to form two-person teams to compete in the net best-ball stroke play format.

Teams must play in at least one qualifying round prior to the event finals but are welcome to compete in multiple rounds with the lowest score counting toward qualification for the final event. Various tees will be assigned based on age, gender and required USGA handicap index (80 percent HDCP).

Anyone is welcome to register for the Friends Open, and those who are not already a Friend of McLemore will be automatically enrolled upon registration for the tournament. The entry fee for the 2024 Friends Open qualifier is $350 per player and includes: one qualifying round, golf cart, entry into the final round (does not include green fee) if qualified, prize money and a tee gift provided by Duck Head, which includes three (3) clothing items customized for the event (sizing options available in the registration form).

“We are excited to welcome back our friends from around the country and the world for the third annual Friends Open,” said Greg Lecker, director of golf at McLemore. “We want everyone to be able to experience the beautiful surroundings and incredible golf available at our mountaintop resort and club, and the Friends Open and the Friends of McLemore invitation is something we cherish as a means to invite those who love the game to spend time together and enjoy some friendly competition.”

The Friends of McLemore invitation offers limited access for non-members to the club’s Highlands Course, clubhouse dining at The Creag restaurant and bar, and accommodations on the mountaintop property. Friends of McLemore can book one tee time per season (four per year) with up to three guests per round. Friends also receive access to McLemore’s six-hole short course, The Cairn, and practice facilities, as well as priority access to special events, offers and invitations. There are no initiation fees or monthly dues required to become a Friend of McLemore.

Friends of McLemore will also have access to tee times at The Keep, the new 18-hole Bill Bergin/Rees Jones-designed championship golf course opening for public play in 2025. A mountaintop ‘headlands’ course, The Keep, boasts five cliffside holes overlooking McLemore Cove.
