Creative Discovery Museum Opens Summer Exhibit, Wallace & Gromit: Get Cracking!

  • Wednesday, May 22, 2024

Wallace & Gromit: Get Cracking!, an interactive exhibit based on the popular film and television characters, will open at Creative Discovery Museum on Saturday. This brand-new exhibit, created by Minnesota Children’s Museum in partnership with Aardman, runs through Sept. 8.

In this hands-on exhibit, visitors step into the north England home of cheese-loving inventor Wallace and his loyal and intelligent dog, Gromit. Designed for children ages 3 through 9, Wallace & Gromit: Get Cracking! builds on problem-solving themes found throughout the films in fun, engaging ways.

In Wallace’s world, inventions and contraptions often go terribly – but hilariously! – wrong, providing a natural opportunity to explore themes around problem-solving and resilience in a safe and lighthearted manner. Through a mix of unique and meaningful experiences, the exhibit focuses on STEM-based problem-solving, with the aim of making the problem-solving process explicit.

Exhibit Highlights

• Set the dining room for tea and launch porridge from a cannon

• Fix the broken Autochef

• Activate the Get-U-Up device

• Design your own cracking contraption

• Blast off in a rocket to the moon

• Hop into Preston’s truck to travel to the village

• Grab a seat and cozy up to read a book
