The county commission voted to prevent Short Term Vacation Rentals in A1 zoned properties less than 2 acres and in R-1 zoned properties of less than 1 acre. Thanks to the foresight of Commissioner Lee Helton (District 7) for proposing this compromise resolution, and supported by Commissioners Shipley (District 1), Highlander (District 9), Baker (District 2), Sharp (District 6) Chairman Eversole (District 10) … 72411 passed.
Friends, this is no small deal. Since the city of Chattanooga had banned them, and since the city of Signal Mountain had done the same, it made sense to protect the citizens of Hamilton County (who live in small private neighborhoods) as well.
This process has taken many months, spearheaded by Commissioner Shipley, who faithfully continued to pursue and protect the property rights of all Hamilton County residents. We should send these officials our thanks for a job well done.

We would like to thank the six Hamilton County commissioners who voted to limit STVRs to one acre in residential and two acres in agricultural properties in unincorporated neighborhoods in our county. Thank you Commissioners Shipley, Eversole, Highlander, Baker, Helton and Sharpe.
Special thanks to Commissioner Shipley for all his hard work and for standing for the property rights of the neighborhoods in question. Hamilton County owes you a debt of gratitude.
This is a win for the peace and safety of many in Hamilton County. Thanks again.
