Wanda Faye Bailey
Wanda Faye Bailey, 70, graced the world with her presence on May 16, 1954, and returned to the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 11, 2024, surrounded by her family and friends.
Wanda was born to the late S.A. Ford and Elizabeth A. Bailey in Chattanooga, where she was the oldest of five children. She was a proud graduate of Howard High School, Class of 1972. Wanda also attended Chattanooga State Technical College where she received her associate's degree in computer technology.
After 30 years of employment with Memorial Hospital, Orange Grove, City of Chattanooga, and Silverdale Detention Center, she retired and obtained her real estate license with Crye-Leike.
Ms. Bailey attended Church of the First Born under the leadership of Pastor Alfred Johnson where she was a member of the church choir. Her favorite song to sing was “Jesus Dropped the Charges.” She later joined the Olivet Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Kevin L. Adams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, S.A. Ford and Elizabeth A. Bailey; brother, Daniel; uncles, Joe, James, Daniel, William, and Julius Bailey; aunt, Ruth Bailey; sister-in-law, Patricia Bailey.
She leaves to cherish her memories, loving and caring sons, Ferris D. Witcher of Chattanooga, and Marcus (Alexis) Bailey of Norcross, Ga.; grandsons, DayQuan and Jacobi Witcher of Clarksville, Tn., Mikah and Isaiah Bailey of Norcross, Ga., Ke’Shun, Javon, and Ferris Witcher, Jr. of Chattanooga; granddaughters, Ke’Shontai and Re’Shonda Witcher of Chattanooga; brother, Kenneth Bailey; devoted sisters/caregivers, Marilyn Pettit and Cherilyn Thomas of Chattanooga; her amazing, devoted niece/caregiver Tiara (Timothy) Turner; nephews, Dwight and Devin Weaver, William Sudderth, Tyler Taylor, and Kenneth Bailey, Jr; aunts, Rosie Caldwell and Carolyn Bailey, and a host of other great-nieces/nephews, cousins, and friends.
A public viewing will be held from 2-6 p.m., on Sunday, July 21, with the family receiving friends from 4:30-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
