CWGA City Team Championship Tournament On Tuesday

  • Monday, July 8, 2024

The Chattanooga Women’s Golf Association will stage its City Championships over the next week at Chattanooga Golf and Country Club.

The Team Play Championship will take place on Tuesday with 108 women competing on 27 teams. Teams are divided into A, B, and C categories based on handicaps.

Last year, Council Fire Club swept all three categories in the gross division while Black Creek Club won the A and C net divisions and WindStone Golf Club won the B net division. The format is the best ball of the four ladies comprising the team.

Next week on July 17-18, 60 women will be competing in individual stroke play in the City Individual Championship. The Championship Division will feature an exceptionally strong field headed by defending champion, Amy Long of Creeks Bend, who previously won in 1987 and 2005.

Also competing will be Lindsay Hollis, who won in 2021 and 2022 and was runner up in 2023; UTC women’s golf coach Colette Murray who claimed three straight from 2018-2020, and 2021 U.S. Mid-Amateur champion Blakesly Brock.

Last year the Open Division was won by Meg Buchanan of Black Creek and the Senior Division was won by Carlene Ryon of Council Fire.
