Kenneth “Ken” Tankersley, 75, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024.

He was of the Baptist faith and a 1967 graduate of Tyner High School. Ken was a veteran of the United States Army and a diesel mechanic with Cummins South, retiring in 2014. He enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering and building different things. Ken was a huge fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football, ROLL TIDE! He also loved reading and westerns.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Joyce Tankersley; sister, Carol Brady; aunt, Nellie Brown; uncle, Van Lee Brown, and grandparents, Oscar and Laura Tankersley.

Ken is survived by his wife of 54 years (married on Sept. 12, 1969), Donna Tankersley; son, Shawn Tankersley; daughter, Jessica O’Shields; sister, Becky Huffman (Jim), and granddaughter, Jordan O’Shields.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Aug. 22, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home at Highway 58. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Danny Bowers officiating.

Ken will be laid to rest in Henegar Cemetery in Henegar, Al., on Friday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. CST.
