Former Lee University and Soddy-Daisy High School pitcher Logan Workman was rewarded for an outstanding month of July when the hard-throwing righthander for the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits was named the Southern League Pitcher of the Month. He finished the month with a 3-1 record and worked 27 innings posting a dazzling 1.67 earned-run average.
Workman was drafted in the seventh round by the Tampa Bay Rays after the 2021 season with the Flames.
In his second season with Montgomery. Workman owns an 8-5 overall mark with a 2.83 ERA. He has pitched in 21 games (108 innings) and fanned 90 hitters.
Workman completed his award-winning college pitching career with the Flames in 2021 and immediately signed the professional contract with the Rays. He was assigned to Charleston (S.C.) and Bowling Green (Ky) in Single-A before moving up to the Biscuits in 2023.
After last season ended, he joined an elite group of upcoming prospects selected to play in the MLB Arizona Fall League and spent this past spring training in the Rays’ big-league camp before beginning his second stint with Montgomery.
During a text message on Tuesday afternoon, Workman said he hopes his work in July will help “with a push in the next direction.”
