Bledsoe County High School announces a new partnership with BTC Fiber to offer a comprehensive Fiber Optic Technician training program at the school’s Career and Technical Education Center.
Officials said, "This innovative collaboration aims to equip students with the essential skills needed to succeed in the rapidly growing fiber optics industry, with BTC Fiber providing expert instruction and hands-on training.
"BTC Fiber, a local leader in telecommunications and fiber optic technology, brings their experienced technicians to the CTE Center to lead the program.
Students enrolled in the course receive real-world training directly from industry professionals, learning the principles of fiber optics, cable installation, splicing, testing and troubleshooting. Upon completion, students will be well-prepared to enter the workforce as certified Fiber Optic Technicians, a high-demand role as the need for high-speed internet and telecommunications infrastructure continues to grow."
“This partnership with BTC Fiber is an incredible opportunity for our students,” said Steve Reel, director of the Career and Technical Education. “By bringing industry experts into the classroom, we are not only expanding our CTE program but also providing our students with the skills and certifications they need to succeed in high-tech careers right here in our community.”
Officials said, "The Fiber Optic Technician program aligns with Bledsoe County High School’s mission to prepare students for both college and career pathways. The program offers students a unique chance to gain technical certifications before graduation, giving them a competitive edge in the job market and helping to meet the increasing demand for fiber optic professionals both locally and nationwide."
“BTC Fiber is excited to partner with Bledsoe County High School to help shape the next generation of fiber optic technicians,” said Mathew Boynton, engineering manager of BTC Fiber. “As fiber optics continues to revolutionize communication technology, this program will provide students with valuable career opportunities and ensure that our region remains at the forefront of digital infrastructure development.”
The program launched in August, with enrollment available to upperclassmen interested in pursuing careers in technology and telecommunications. Selina Sparkman, director of Schools, said she is committed to expanding its vocational training offerings through partnerships like this to ensure that its students are prepared for the jobs of tomorrow.
