Phillips Art Exhibition Opens At Lee

Lee University is hosting an art exhibition featuring a collection of works from Victoria Phillips, a Lee alumna, a part-time assistant professor of art at Kennesaw State University, and part-time faculty at Lee.

The collection of her work that will be on display is titled “Not I,” and it deals with a central theme of grief and loss and finding the moments of hope within it.

“My overall body of work is a continuation of exploring my spiritual ethos,” said Ms. Phillips. “This specific collection is about shared experiences such as new life and the grieving of a loss. Sorrow and hope are at tug of war, and they are both demonstrated through the layers in my paintings, just as our shared experiences are represented throughout life.”

After graduating from Lee with a Bachelor of Arts in visual arts, Ms. Phillips went on to earn a Master of Fine Arts in painting from Savannah College of Art and Design. She also attended Piedmont University for a Gifted Endorsement and Teaching Certification in art education.

Ms. Phillips has been involved in numerous exhibits throughout the United States as her private collectors continue to grow domestically and abroad. Her work has been represented by Starlight Art Consultancy, Singulart, and the 567 Center for Renewal. Her work is currently available through Victoria Phillips Studio and Gallery.

The exhibition is on display in the Squires Library Fine Art Gallery on Lee’s campus. It opened on Tuesday with a reception and will remain open for viewing until Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Admission to the exhibition is free and open to the public during regular operating hours of the library, which can be found by visiting leeuniversity.libguides.com/homepage.
