Wilbur E. "Stoney" Stone, Jr.,
Wilbur E. "Stoney" Stone, Jr., 100, of Hixson, Tennessee, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Soddy Daisy Health Center.
He was born July 27, 1924, in Rockford, Illinois, to the late Wilbur and Willmay (Rock) Stone.
Stoney was preceded in death by his wife of almost 75 years, Doris (Burch) Stone. They were married on July 27, 1946 in Loves Park, Illinois.
He served in the Army during World War II and was stationed in the Pacific. He enjoyed playing golf well into his 90s and he and Doris loved to travel in retirement.
Survivors include his children, Ken (Joyce) Stone of Sun City West, AZ, Sandy Mowery of Rock Hill, SC and Dan (Helen) Stone of Dunlap, TN, several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
