Blood Assurance’s Bloodmobile is making a stop at Morning Pointe at Happy Valley in Walker County on Feb. 20.
Morning Pointe at Happy Valley is located at 2989 Happy Valley Road in Rossville. The Bloodmobile will roll into the parking lot at the assisted living and memory care community for donations between 3-7 p.m.
Officials said, "With donations low this time of year, the local blood bank is looking to increase its life-saving supply of blood. All blood types are needed, but especially O-negative, the universal blood donor.
One donation could save up to three lives."
Blood Assurance is also offering an incentive for donation. Donors between Feb. 15-28 will be entered for a chance to win a $500 eGift card as part of the organization’s Spring Break Giveaway. Snacks will be provided after donation.
“If you are healthy and able to give, we encourage you to join us in giving back to the community through blood donation,” said Kristen Weiz, community relations director at Morning Pointe at Happy Valley. “None of us knows when we might need these resources, or when our loved ones might, and it is really very easy to give.”
Donors can sign up in advance at www.bloodassurance.org/happyvalley.
Blood Assurance recommends that donors eat a good meal before giving, drink extra water and avoid energy drinks. An ID is also required.
