Baylee Delbridge had a career-high 16 points in leading the Lee University women’s basketball team to their sixth straight win, a 59-43 defensive battle over Trevecca Nazarene inside the Trojan Fieldhouse on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Flames improved to 14-4 in GSC play and 20-4 overall. The Trojans dropped to 4-14 and 7-17.

Lee will make its annual trip to Mississippi beginning Thursday. The Lady Flames will face Delta State at 6:30 in Cleveland, Miss. and then move onto Mississippi College for a Saturday afternoon contest (3 p.m.).

Trevecca led 12-11 at the end of the first quarter of play but the Lady Flames bounced back and outscored the Trojans 22-13 in the second frame and held a 33-25 lead at halftime and were never threatened.
The margin grew to 51-34 at the third break. Coach

Marty Rowe cleared his bench in the final period and the Lady Flames tallied just eight points but held the host team to nine.

While Delbridge led the scoring, Anna Muhonen followed with a solid 12 points and led the team with eight rebounds. Haylee Johnson followed with nine markers and seven assists. Mia Hurst pulled down seven boards and hit a pair of 3-pointers for her six points. Haley Cameron added six points and five rebounds. In the rebounding department both teams finished with 38 apiece.

Cheyenne Trotter had a double-double in leading the way for the Trojans. She finished with 16 points and 14 rebounds, but was the only Trevecca player in double-figure scoring. The Lee defense held the Trojans to 14-of-53 shooting overall (25%) and 4-of-16 3-pointers (25%). Trevecca made 11-of-12 free throws.

The Lady Flames did not have one of their better shooting performances but all 14 players who dressed out saw action, including Mallory Hampton who returned from a knee injury she suffered in the Union game on Jan. 16th. She tallied three points in 19 minutes of play. Lee made 23-of-59 shots from the field (39%) and canned 7-of-28 triples (25%). At the free-throw line, they converted 6-of-10.
