COHealth Solutions announces the appointment of Chattanoogan Shauna Lorenzo-Rivero, MD, FACS, FASCRS, CPE, as its chief medical officer. A board-certified colorectal surgeon, Dr. Lorenzo brings over two decades of expertise in minimally invasive robotic surgery, pelvic floor disorders, and medical education to her new leadership role.

Dr. Lorenzo leaves her positions as a colorectal surgeon at University Surgical Associates and an associate professor of surgery at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

"Her extensive experience in patient care, advanced surgical techniques and healthcare leadership aligns seamlessly with COHealth’s mission to revolutionize personal care solutions for patients and caregivers," officials said.

“My passion for improving patient outcomes extends beyond surgery,” said Dr.
Lorenzo. “I believe there’s a better way to care for those who cannot care for themselves—particularly regarding evacuation, which is a key factor in more than 50 percent of nursing home placements. It’s an isolating, embarrassing issue, but COHealth has a solution that restores dignity, keeps families together and eases the burden on caregivers. I am honored to be part of this movement.”

Officials said, "As chief medical officer, Dr. Lorenzo will lead clinical studies demonstrating the Carebidet’s impact on reducing caregiver stress, improving patient outcomes and enhancing overall healthcare efficiency. She will also oversee training and implementation of the Carebidet across hospitals, home care agencies, hospice providers, nursing homes, assisted living communities and long-term care facilities - ensuring the highest quality of patient-centered care."

COHealth CEO Mario J. Pino expressed his enthusiasm about Dr. Lorenzo’s appointment: “Having Dr. Lorenzo join COHealth is a major step forward. Her expertise and leadership will be invaluable in educating caregivers, nurses and healthcare professionals about the life-changing benefits of the Carebidet for both patients and institutions.”
