D. LaVerne York Wilbanks went home to be with the Lord on February 24, 2025.

She was born in Alabama to the late Wayne Lee and Myrtle (Crane) York. At age three, she moved to North Georgia and has resided there since.

She graduated from Lakeview High School in 1965. She was employed with Catoosa County Schools with 27 years of service. She loved sewing crafts to give to family and friends. Most of all she loved spending time with family.

She will be remembered for her generous heart, smile, and kindness toward everyone.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, James A. Wilbanks Sr.; and brother, Arland York.

She is survived by a sister, Reba Brammer of Hixson; children, Trish Abercrombie, Terry Abercrombie, and Garry (Cheri) Abercrombie, all of Rossville; grandchildren, Jenna Abercrombie, Katie Abercrombie, Michial Abercrombie; and many young friends whom she loved as her own; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Special thanks to mother’s caregivers, Ashley, Kendra, and Judy. We will be forever grateful for their love and care.
