Councilman Ledford Was There For Us

  • Friday, February 7, 2025

With the term of Councilman Ledford expiring and his time on the council concluding, I feel compelled to share this story of what I believe are the actions of a true public servant.

The night of Easter 2020, my house was struck by the tornado off Jenkins Road. Subsequently, I was back at home the next morning cleaning up what I could in the aftermath.

On one of my trips to the debris pile, I looked up and thought I saw a familiar face. After clearing the sweat from my eyes, I did recognize my district four Councilman Darrin Ledford walking the street and coming towards me.

They always say, in moments like these, you always find out who the true public leaders are, and Councilman Ledford was this to district four and the city of Chattanooga.

I share this now to thank him for being there when I was at a low point. Just by walking the streets and saying hello, it meant the world to me and gave me great comfort in the middle of such destruction.

Chattanooga is fortunate to have servant leaders like Darrin and I wish him and his family all the best going forward.
