Zakai Ziegler scored 20 points and Jordan Gainey 15 to lead the Tennessee Vols past top-seed Auburn, 70-65, and into the SEC Tournament title game.
In the slugfest on Saturday afternoon in Nashville, Auburn was ahead 33-32 at the half, though the Vols led much of the game and at one time had a 12-point advantage.
But Auburn went on a 10-0 run as Tennessee had several turnovers to take the contest down to the wire.
One of the keys was the Vols connecting on 25 of 27 free throws and the Tigers hitting only 13 of 22.
A Gainey layup put Tennessee up 68-63 with just over two minutes left. Chad Baker-Mazara's layup made it 68-65 with 1:16 remaining.
Neither team would score again until Jahmai Mashack put in two free throws with 14 seconds left. Auburn got off an off-balance shot and Ziegler then corralled the ball until time ran out.
