Donna Goins Wilson
On Saturday, March 15, 2025 at the age of 84, Donna Goins Wilson, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend, left to spend eternity with her heavenly father.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, of over 57 years, Gerald Lamar Wilson, her parents, William P. Goins and Lillian Grace Goins (Nelson), sisters, Pauline, Lucille, Geraldine, and brother, Neal.
Donna is survived by her three sons, Craig (Kim) of Atlanta, David (Cheryl) and Michael (Karan) of Ringgold, seven grandchildren, Hunter, Kristen, Alex, Andrew, Avery, Lillian, and Eli, great-granddaughter, Carmen, and great-grandson, Jace.
Donna was born and raised in Guild, Tn. She graduated from Marion County High School and attended Edmondson Business College. She then accepted a job at Combustion Engineering in Chattanooga, where she met her husband Lamar. Donna and Lamar built a beautiful marriage, home, and family while living in Ringgold. Donna’s focus was her family. Her husband adored and cherished her until his death in 2021. Their loving and devoted marriage set a great example for their three sons. Her boys will be eternally grateful for all the love and care she poured into their lives. They are better men because of her devotion to their upbringing. Not a day went by that anyone around Donna didn’t feel her love and genuine care.
Donna enjoyed playing tennis with Lamar and friends. She played in numerous tournaments and leagues around Chattanooga and the southeast. Donna learned hand piece quilting from her mother and became a true artist with fabric, creating numerous works of art that decorate the beds of many family members. She was also a self-taught painter, and an excellent flower gardener.
After raising their sons, Donna and Lamar enjoyed many more years together enjoying traveling, gardening, and spoiling grandchildren and their dogs, Berry and Odie.
Donna’s deep passion for her savior Jesus Christ is undoubtedly the spring from where her loving and caring personality flowed. Donna attempted to brighten the days of those around her literally to the week of her passing. Her loving presence will be missed. In her last days Donna enjoyed spending time with her adoring family and with her two amazing caregivers, Amanda and Maudie. Donna’s family will be forever grateful for the loving care and compassion extend by these two amazing ladies. The three of them kept each other laughing till the end. Her survivors will be sustained by the many happy memories they have of her and the knowledge they will all be reunited in the future. Donna loved a quote on the headstone of her Grandma Goins and the quote definitely applies to her. Her toils are past. Her work is done. She fought a good fight. The Victory won.
On Thursday, March 20, there will be a brief viewing from 10 a.m.-noon at Heritage Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe followed by a graveside service at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Chattanooga National Military Cemetery.
