Troy came on strong in the third quarter to secure a 85-72 home court win over Chattanooga and advance to the Super 16 Round of the WNIT.
The Mocs got off to a hot start, leading by as much as 10 points in the first half. However, Troy mounted a comeback late in the second half to take just its second lead of the game, but a 3-pointer from Caia Elisaldez at the buzzer sent the Mocs into the locker room with a 37-35 lead.
The two teams started the third trading the lead seven times before the Trojans went on an 8-0 run and outscored Chattanooga 13-2 over the final 2:27 of the period to lead 63-51 heading into the final 10 minutes.
The Mocs pulled as close as seven points twice in the fourth quarter behind buckets from Elisaldez who score 12 of her game-high 21 points in the final period.
This is the second meeting this season between the two programs.
Troy came away with a 76-66 win over the Mocs on November 14 at McKenzie Arena.
