Lee Theatre will present “A Murder Is Announced,” by Leslie Darbon, adapted from Agatha Christie’s novel, directed by Dr. Christine Williams on April 4 at 7 p.m.; April 5, 10-12 at 7:30 p.m.; and April 6 at 2:30 p.m. in the Buzz Oates Blackbox Theatre.

An announcement in the local paper states the time and place of an imminent murder. When an unknown visitor to Miss Blacklock's Victorian home dies under the prescribed circumstances, Miss Marple turns up to solve the case.

“We have had a great time rehearsing this murder mystery, and we can’t wait to have audiences join us,” said Dr. Williams, professor of theatre and chair of the Communication Arts Department at Lee. “It has been quite some time since we have played an Agatha Christie, and this has been such a delight to direct.”

The show’s cast includes Lee students Emily Farley as Julia Simmons, Mariah Moore as Letitia Blacklock, Alaina Duty as Dora Bunner, Daniel Puckett as Patrick Simmons, Brooke Jenkins as Mitzi, Ellie Hicks as Miss Marple, Maya Huffman as Phillipa Haymes, Noah MacDonald as Edmund Swettenham, Holly Shimmel as Mrs. Swettenham, Nolan Mann as Rudi Sherz, Tanner Jennings as Inspector Craddock, and Josiah Creel as Sergeant Mellors.

The production crew includes Lee students Anna Evans as stage manager and Emma Flannagan as assistant stage manager. Lee alumni Derrick Vanmeter will serve as scenic designer and Macy Tomasello as costume designer.

Tickets are available online at Eventbrite.com or at Lee Theatre’s box office. The box office is open 4-6 p.m. during the week of the show and one hour prior to each performance.

The box office and Buzz Oates Blackbox Theatre are in Lee University’s Communication Arts Building.
