Covenant played its final conference match of the regular season on Wednesday at Belhaven looking to secure the No. 2 seed in the CCS Tournament with a win. The Scots did just that, taking down the Blazers 5-2 on their home court.
Final: Covenant 5, Belhaven 2 Ben Onufrock and Caleb Domkowski started the day off with a dominating 6-1 win over Mark Matviiev and Harshith Anugonda in the No. 1 position.
In the No. 2 slot, Brock Boehling and Graham Hayes suffered a tiebreak loss to Maximo Estrada and Josiah Leggett 6-7 (7).
Covenant earned the doubles point as Masen Howard and Gavin Patton teamed up to defeat Briley Oakes and Jesus Diaz 6-4 in the No. 3 ranked match.
Onufrock sealed the deal on another two-win day, taking down Estrada 7-5, 6-2 in the No. 1 singles slot. In the No. 2 position, Domkowski also clinched his two-win match, taking down Anugonda 6-1, 7-5.
Boehling lost a tough three-set match to Matvieev 4-6, 6-3, 3-6 in the No. 3 slot.
In the No. 4 position, Orsega took care of business against Diaz, winning 6-2, 6-0.
Hayes blanked Hayden Lassiter in the No. 5 slot 6-0, 6-0.
Gavin Patton manned the No. 6 ranked match for Covenant and was defeated by Mark Breedlove in three sets.
Covenant concludes the regular season on Tuesday against Transylvania.
