The City of Chattanooga, in partnership with the City of Red Bank, will initiate trail restoration efforts at Stringer’s Ridge Park on Monday to address damage caused by recent wildfires. This work will be led by professional trail builders in collaboration with local arborists and is expected to take approximately two weeks.
Portions of four popular trails—Double J, Strut, Alta Vista and Cherokee—sustained significant damage both from the wildfire and the firefighting efforts that followed.
Restoration activities will focus on stabilizing trail surfaces, clearing debris, mitigating erosion and ensuring long-term safety for all trail users.
To ensure the safety of the public and allow restoration crews to work efficiently, portions of the above-mentioned trails will be closed throughout the repair process. Clear signage will be placed at all affected trailheads and along the impacted sections to indicate closures.
The City of Chattanooga strongly urges all park visitors to respect posted signs and avoid entering closed areas. Trail restoration involves the use of heavy machinery and may expose unstable terrain, creating serious hazards for anyone who enters restricted zones. Protecting the safety of both trail users and maintenance crews is of utmost importance during this process, officials said.
Progress updates and reopening announcements will be shared through the social media communication channels of the City of Chattanooga Parks and Outdoors, the City of Red Bank and SORBA Chattanooga.
