Mr. Bobby Ellis, 89, of Dalton, Georgia, departed this life on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the local hospital.

Born July 2, 1935, in Dalton, Georgia, he was the son of the late William Thaddus and Nannie Sue Noland Ellis. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Virginia Ledford Ellis, who passed away on July 1, 2024; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Silas Alexander and Mary Etta Wilson Ledford; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Trammel and Peggy Ellis, Lloyd and Barbara Ellis, Arvil and Eve Ellis; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Martha Moore, Betty Sue and Grady Hilley, Jean and Mack Beason.

Bobby was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life was rooted in faith, love, and humility. A steadfast Christian, he was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church for over 60 years, where he served and worshipped with unwavering commitment.

He was a true outdoorsman who found joy and peace in nature—whether in the woods deer hunting or working with his hands to craft birdhouses and bee boxes. Bobby had a quiet strength, a kind and honest spirit, and a heart always ready to help others. His gentle ways and steady character left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He retired from Dalton Sheet Metal after more than 39 years of dedicated service. His work ethic was only matched by his devotion to his family, whom he loved deeply and who were the center of his life.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Phil Weaver of Chatsworth, GA, and Deb and Bill Holland of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Nic and Joslyn Weaver, Beth and Laban Howard, Dee Kistner, and Jason Kistner; great-grandchildren, Laban Howard Jr., Lexie Howard, Lydia Howard, Huxton Weaver, Ryden Weaver, Bremen Kistner, Gavin Kistner, Zander Parrott, and Achilles Kistner; his sister, Felicia Henson of Dalton, GA; sisters-in-law, June Ledford of Cleveland, TN, and Jo Ledford of Dalton, GA; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Bobby Ellis will be held on Monday, April 21, at 3 p.m. at Ponders Melrose Chapel with Reverend Lamar Beason officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Ponders Melrose Chapel on Monday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the service hour.

Arrangements are by Ponders Melrose Chapel, 137 Melrose Dr., Dalton, Ga. 30721, 706 226-4002.
