Janet “Shorty” Keyser Goodner
Janet “Shorty” Keyser Goodner, 72, of Hixson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at her residence surrounded by loved ones.
She was born on March 11, 1953. Janet was a graduate of Hixson High School. She dedicated her professional life to the Hamilton County Property Assessor’s Office. In her personal life, Janet found her greatest joy in her family and friends. Married to Poncho, she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and an abundance of love. She never missed a birthday or the opportunity to make you feel loved.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Poncho Goodner; parents, Virgil and Lottie Mae Keyser; and brother, Rick Keyser.
Survivors include her brothers, Eddie (Gail) Keyser of Soddy Daisy, TN, Randy (Jill) Keyser of Knoxville, TN, and Ralph (Teresa) Keyser of Brunswick, GA; nieces, April (Thomas) Bledsoe of Murfreesboro, TN, Lauren Burns of Gloucester, VA, Devon (Jon) Engle of Knoxville, TN, Amethea (Kyle) Davis of Hortense, GA, and Chelsea Keyser of Buena Vista, GA; nephews, Adam (Lanie) Keyser of Ooltewah, TN and Dustin Keyser of Brunswick, GA; step daughter, Natalie Goodner of Hixson, TN; and 6 great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Natalie Goodner, Joyce Cook, and the staff of Amedysis Hospice for their loving care and attention.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Janet to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A visitation for Janet will be held Monday, April 28, from 1-3 p.m. at Chattanooga Funeral Home-North Chapel, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343, followed by a celebration of life service at 3 p.m.
