Hazel Barnette Lane, of Hixson, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at her home at the age of 93.

Hazel was a longtime member of Hixson First Baptist Church and the Hixson Lions Club. She was a full-time homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caregiver to many of her elder family members.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Bryan Lane; parents, Lawrence and Alice Barnette; and brothers: Charlie (Oval) Barnette, Lester (Pug) Barnette and Frank Barnette.

Survivors include her beloved son, Dr. James (Marie) Lane; granddaughter, Dr. Elizabeth (Dr. Max Marlowe) Lane; grandson, Christopher (Kelly) Lane; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

On behalf of Hazel, the family wishes to acknowledge the loving and devoted care of Hazel’s caregivers: Debbi, Linda, Pam, Janice, and Jessica.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bethel Bible Village or Hixson First Baptist Church or to a charity of their choice.

Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, in the Coulter Chapel of Lane Funeral Home with visitation being held one hour before the service. Officiating the service will be Reverend Terry Shannon. Interment will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
