Morning Pointe Foundation’s Caregiver Café Answers Tough Questions On Elder Care

  • Wednesday, April 23, 2025

Panelists addressed a variety of questions related to helping aging loved ones during the Morning Pointe Foundation’s free Caregiver Café on Tuesday, “How to Make Tough Decisions for Your Aging Loved One.”

Attendees from the greater Chattanooga area gathered at Morning Pointe of East Hamilton. A panel of three local experts shared their most frequently asked questions regarding financial planning, Medicaid and Medicare and veterans benefits. The event ended with opening the floor for direct audience questions.

The panelists were Nancy A. Cogar, Esq., elder law attorney with Samples Jennings Clem and Fields, PLLC; Misty Bolt, Medicare specialist and CEO of Medicare Misty; and Mary Ross-Tarkington, M.Ed., NCC, national director of client relations, Elder Veterans Legal Aid Group.

The audience was engaged in the presentation and asked a lot of questions of the panelists, lining up to speak to each of them after the program.

“We had such good feedback from our attendees for this event,” said Miranda Perez, Morning Pointe Foundation executive director. “Our audience members asked some great questions about how to help their loved ones with transitions, and our experts were able to help provide answers and resources for them. This is one reason the Foundation is here.”

The Morning Pointe Foundation offers its Caregiver Café educational series as a free service to the community each spring as part of its mission to provide caregiver support programs. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Morning Pointe Senior Living founded by senior healthcare entrepreneurs Greg A. Vital and J. Franklin Farrow. In addition to the caregiver support, the nonprofit sponsors educational awareness events and funds scholarships to advance the care of seniors throughout the Southeast.

Morning Pointe of East Hamilton Assisted Living and Memory Care is a campus about to expand, with The Lantern at Morning Pointe Alzheimer’s Center of Excellence, East Hamilton set to open soon. The new community will offer two levels of Alzheimer’s and memory care service – a new service for early-stage care in addition to the more traditional care for those in more advanced stages of the disease process. Staff will be specially trained in memory care approaches and programs. When The Lantern opens, the original building will transition to an assisted living-only community.

Both East Hamilton communities are taking reservations.
