Earl Hull Ziegler, Jr., 89, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025. Born on January 11, 1936, Earl led a life defined by integrity, dedication, and enduring love for his family.

Earl was a graduate of Central High School in Chattanooga in 1955, where he excelled both academically and athletically, being voted "Most Athletic" in his senior year. His remarkable talents were evident as he earned All-State honors in baseball and lettered in football, and his artistic abilities stood out as well, which later contributed to his successful career as an engineer. Earl went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, and throughout his career, he worked for several prominent manufacturing companies, including Combustion Engineering, Singer Cobble, and Textile Industrial Welding in Dalton, Georgia.

It was in high school that Earl met Marilyn Chamberlain, the love of his life, and they married on August 2, 1957. Their love was a true partnership, one that remained steadfast throughout their 68 years together. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always seeking to support and encourage those around him. Earl was a proud family man who took the greatest joy in watching his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren grow in faith, love, and character.

A committed Christian, Earl was a dedicated member of Ridgedale Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school. He was passionate about reading scripture and living out his faith daily. Earl also served his country honorably for eight years in the Naval Reserve.

An avid lover of sports, Earl enjoyed playing golf and remained active throughout his life, taking on challenges with a hardworking spirit that inspired everyone he met. His deep faith, honest nature, and strong work ethic were a testament to the legacy of love and integrity he leaves behind.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Sue Ruth and Earl Hull Ziegler Sr.; his sister-in-law, Jo Ziegler; and several other beloved family members.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; three brothers, Alan (Sherry), Tommy (Elaine), and Joe Ziegler; his children, Steve Ziegler (Laurie) and Debra McGhee (Tom); his grandchildren, Katie Cox (Robert), Caroline Reeves (Todd), Kelsey Johns (Hunter), and Garrett McGhee (Taylor); and his great-grandchildren, Cash Reeves, Bailey Reeves, Evah Reeves, Ariah Cox, and Bode Johns, all of whom affectionately called him “Grandaddy.”

Earl’s legacy of love, faith, and integrity will live on in the hearts of his family and the community. A private family service to be officiated by Dr. Doug Plumlee will be held in honor of his memory. The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers during this time.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at The Bridge at Ooltewah and Hearth Hospice for their compassionate care and support. Your kindness and dedication brought comfort and peace during his final days, and we are forever grateful for the gentle hands and warm hearts that surrounded him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ridgedale Baptist Church in honor of Earl’s life of service. We are forever grateful for the love and memories he gave us. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered and is now at peace in the presence of our Lord.
