Sadre-Marandi, Ehsan

Engineer With TVA And Adjunct Professor At UTC

  • Wednesday, May 14, 2025

Ehsan Sadre-Marandi passed from this earthly life on Monday, May 12, 2025.

He was born on December 6, 1949, in Tehran, Iran. In his late teen years, he moved to London, England, and he began his college career at Oxford before following his brother to the United States. Once here, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Engineering and his Master of Science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He worked as a research engineer at TVA while in school. His career included engineering and management positions at Beattie Systems, Tapistron International, and March Adams and Associates. He also enjoyed teaching as part of the adjunct faculty at UTC.

Ehsan enjoyed doing things with his hands and being creative, leading to many hobbies. He loved cooking and perfecting recipes that included fresh herbs and produce grown in his garden. He shared those with family and friends through delicious meals and time together, as well as with gifts of three self-published cookbooks. Model trains were another hobby, and he designed and created buildings to scale to add to the scene. He also enjoyed woodworking, including building a baby crib, toys, bookshelves, a balance beam, a sewing desk, and a chest of drawers for his children and grandchildren. He made a beautiful inlaid backgammon board to accompany his games with special friends. A special joy was time spent watercolor painting with his granddaughter.

Ehsan met his wife, Frances, while they were both at UTC. All it took was a wink and they were married for 42 years. Together they raised three daughters and enjoyed travelling to visit family and friends in England, Cyprus, and Australia. He was extremely proud of his daughters, their career choices, and their lovely families: Nadia Sadre-Marandi and her daughter, Lucy Herrod; Donya Sadre-Marandi and her husband, Dakotah Bowie; Farrah Sadre-Marandi, her husband, Andrew Zaleski, and their sons, Miles and Lucas.

The family is having a private celebration of Ehsan’s life. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lane Funeral Home, 601 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415, 423 877-3524, lanefh.com.
