Linda Hudson Ballew passed away peacefully at her home on May 13, 2025, with her daughter by her side.

She was born on Feb. 6, 1948, in Chattanooga to Roy and Georgia Lee Hudson. She was a 1966 graduate of Chattanooga City High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ballew, sisters, Jean Moore and Sue Burnette and brothers, Don Hudson, Roy Hudson Jr., Bill Hudson and Kenneth Hudson.

Survivors include her son, Doug Hinshaw (Jan), Dana Welch (Justin), grandson, Jordan Hinshaw (Bridgette), granddaughter, Hannah Elsea (Kameron), great grandson, Beckett Hinshaw and great granddaughter, Hallie Elsea and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linda’s greatest joy was her family. She loved family trips and visiting with her family as often as possible. Her passion was helping animals. She had many special pets, including her favorite companion, Lulu. She was known to feed and take care of all the neighborhood strays, some becoming part of her family.

She loved taking trips to different small towns as well as beach vacations.

The family will receive friends at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Friday, May 16 beginning at 11 a.m., with a Celebration of Linda’s Life at 1 p.m.

Burial will take place immediately following the service in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their exceptional care, especially nurse Sue and caregivers Lola and Chelsea.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to send donations to The Pet Placement Center in Red Bank, TN.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory, and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, TN 37343.
