Edna Black
Edna Louise Black, 86, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, May 18, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Louise was born July 31, 1938, to the late Sallie Mae (Hilley) and Dock Stiefel. She was a devoted member of Tiftonia Holiness Church for over 50 years. Her love for the Lord was evident through her love, kindness, and selfless spirit, which touched the lives of everyone she met.
She enjoyed selling Tupperware and Longaberger baskets. She also loved antiquing with her husband, James. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and Nanny. Her greatest joy was being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, James, whose love she carried with her until the end. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Virgil, Ottis, and Willard Stiefel, and her sisters, Iola Fowler, Alma Knowles, and Hulean Coppage.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickey (Joe) Eller and son Jamey (Marsha) Black. Her legacy will be carried on through her granddaughters, Beth (Bryan) LaRosa, Misty (Matthew) Bethune, Meagan Eller, and Melody (Dacota) Walker. She especially loved her great-grandchildren, Emma and Ben LaRosa, Chloe and Sophie Walker, Shadee and Phoebe Bethune, and Olivia Blalock. She is also survived by sisters, Joyce (Wendell) Robinson and Delga Bowman, her "friend to the end" Tiny Walker, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, and 10–11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22 at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22, with Bro. Donnie Walker and Bro. Troy Lawson officiating.
Burial will be at Lakewood Memory Gardens, West.
Pallbearers will be Ben LaRosa, Bryan LaRosa, Matthew Bethune, Dacota Walker, Chris Robinson, and Anthony Bowman.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Chattanooga for their wonderful care and would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Jennifer, Christy, Donna, and Paige for their kindness and compassion.
