U.S. Army Veteran Retired From TVA After 21 Years

Thomas “Tom” Mason Phillips 85, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

He was the son of the late Mason Burt Phillips and Edith Frost Phillips and was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Pettyjohn and two brothers, Charles and Paul Phillips.

Tom retired from TVA after 21 years of service. He also served 23 years in the U S Army Reserves and was stationed, for a period, at Fort Campbell during Desert Storm.

Tom loved working in his career field and when time permitted he enjoyed swinging a club out on the golf course.

He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife of 46 ½ years, Linda J. Phillips, of Chattanooga, daughter, Sheri Seibert (David), of Altha, Fl., three sons, Brad Miller (Donna), of Chattanooga, Chris Miller (Kat), of Cleveland, Tn., Joe Phillips (Tina), of Chattanooga, three grandchildren, Justin Miller, Natalie Phillips, Connor Phillips, two great-grandchildren, Dominic and Leah Miller, and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date in the Chattanooga National Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth McElhaney officiating and military rites being conducted.
