Ellen Elizabeth Card Harrel passed away on March 21, 2025, in Chattanooga at age 97. She was born on October 26, 1927. Ellen spent her early years in Soddy but moved to Michigan with her family in 1943. She attended Flint Northern High School.

Ellen returned to the Chattanooga area where she lived most of her adult life. After retirement from the Electric Power Board, she served a number of years as a volunteer at Memorial Hospital and was an avid reader of religion and philosophy.

Ellen was extremely proud of her Soddy Welsh roots. She was formerly a member of the Welsh Congregational Church. When that congregation disbanded, she became a member of Pilgrim Congregational Church.

Ellen is survived by her brother Edwin Price Card, Fort Myers, Fl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Rachel Card; son, James Edwin Smith; and brothers, John Card, William Card, and Earl Card.

There will be a graveside service at the Card Family Cemetery at 10597-10405 Card Road in Soddy, on Saturday, June 14, at 12:30 p.m. with Rev. Katharine Howe Toledano, Minister of Pilgrim Congregational Church, officiating.
