Hazel Marie Smith
Hazel Marie Smith, 92, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, affectionately known as Mammaw, entered the gates of Heaven on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.
Hazel was of Christian faith and was a member of New Shepherd Hill Baptist Church.
Hazel was born on April 13, 1933. She enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, college softball, spending time with family, front porch sitting, watching Wheel of Fortune (you did not call during her show) and doing word searches. Anyone who met her, loved her kind and loving spirit. Her family was her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George R. Smith; her father, Samuel Allen; her mother, Sallie Sims Allen; her son, Garry Smith; stepmother, Ruth Allen; and her sister, Virginia Hickman.
Hazel is survived by her children Larry Smith (Lynda) Meigs County, Pam Boswell (Rodney) Providence, NC, Vickie Wolfe (Rodney) Ooltewah, Rhonda Adams (Wayne) Harrison. Grandchildren, Julie Witherow (Nakia), Jason Tankersley (Sabrina), Stephanie Hodges (Jason), Anna Killingsworth (Brian), Chrissy Staples (Chris), Scott Smith, Jacqueline Hardin (Robert) Christopher Adams (Paige). Fourteen Great- Grand Children and Four Great-Great Grandchildren.
The family will receive friends/guests from 11-2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 9, with funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home, followed with burial at McDonald East View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Tankersley, Jason Hodges, Brian Killingsworth, Mason Killingsworth, Robert Hardin, and Christopher Adams.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
