The Salvation Army of Chattanooga is kicking off its annual Beat the Heat Program. Beat the Heat begins July 1 and lasts until the end of August each year, and is dedicated to helping those in need during the hottest months of the summer. Officials said, "This program is a necessity and cannot be done without the help of the community. The Riverwalk is one of Chattanooga’s crown jewels, and as a frequent user, I’m excited about the planned improvements to the South Broad section. These upgrades will undoubtedly enhance an already vibrant part of our city. However, I have serious concerns about the current planning.
