Dear School Board members and County Commissioners: I am a parent of school-aged children in District 2. I appreciate all school district leaders, school board members, and county officials who have thoughtfully considered the proposed budget for the 2025-2026 school year. That said, I would like to see more joint efforts taken by our county commissioners, along with HCS leaders and the school board, so we may confidently step into the years ahead. We all know to expect the unexpected when district tournaments begin. That was surely the case at Soddy Daisy’s Tom Higgins Field Wednesday afternoon where the District 6-AAA baseball tournament got underway with the first game in the Best of Three series for the semifinals. The first game featured the Signal Mountain Eagles, a team seeded second coming in and the Red Bank Lions, who entered play as the third seed. After Tuesday's tough loss the Lookouts were able to bounce back for a 6-0 victory over the Montgomery Biscuits Wednesday night. The Lookouts were led by a stellar starting pitching performance from starter Jose Franco. Franco went five innings allowing only one hit while striking out nine Biscuits.
