The first phase of Stonewall Farms, the new development on Hixson Pike, has now been completed, developer Jay Bell said.
Stonewall Farms is located on the former 180-acre Swingle Farm two miles north of Valleybrook Golf Course and just prior to the Thrasher Pike intersection.
Phase one contains 120 lots.
Reflecting continued confidence in the local home market, sales have been strong in the first month with 27 lots being sold to local builders and individuals, Mr. Bell said.
Over 20 homes are now under construction and ready for homebuyers to tour.
Stonewall farms will feature homes that Bell Development likes to refer to as "affordable luxury." The neighborhood will be similar in style and scale to Bell's East Brainerd neighborhood Belleau Woods (which has led the city in home sales for the last four years).
Stonewall Farms will be slightly larger with over 400 homes when complete.
The homes will range in price from $190,000 to over $250,000. They will range in size from 1,800 to 2,700 square feet.
Mr. Bell said, "Most of the homes will feature master bedrooms on the first floor, hardwood flooring and many other luxuries today's buyers expect. The designs will be attractive to 'empty nesters' looking to downsize and minimize upkeep chores and to young professionals looking for their first 'dream' home.
"They will all be constructed of materials that minimize outside maintenance and offer timeless styling. The front yards will be sodded and the entire neighborhood will connected by wide concrete sidewalks.
"Each home site will have four hardwood saplings planted when the house is completed in an effort to reforest the farm as the homes are built. Each home will have a gas street light and cast architectural mailbox.
"The neighborhood features two main entrances onto Hixson Pike making entering and leaving very convenient and safe. One entrance even features a large turning lane for those heading south into town.
"Sewers connections are run to each home site and the all underground utilities leave the wonderful view of Big Ridge and Signal Mountain unobstructed.
"With the roads now paved, everyone is welcome to tour this new development anytime."
