Joseph Spencer Moran, of Chattanooga and Parish, NY, died Saturday evening, Sept. 3, 2005, at his New York farm.

Dr. Moran served on the faculty of several colleges, including the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is the author of "Fannie & Frank," a history of the "Plum Nelly" artists colony on Lookout Mountain.

Dr. Moran is survived by his wife, Virginia Anne Moran; his daughter, Patricia Anne Rosenbach, of Chattanooga; granddaughter, Virginia Anne Rosenbach, of Chattanooga; and sister-in-law, Louise Alexander Westbrook, of Chattanooga.
