Dr. Michael Geer, M.D. FACC joins Erlanger Hypertension Management Center.
Dr. Michael Geer, a cardiologist, has joined the Erlanger Hypertension Management Center as medical director.
Board certified in Cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Geer is a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the American Heart Association. His additional professional affiliations include memberships in the American Medical Association, the Association of Black Cardiologists, the American Society of Hypertension and the American Society of Echocardiography. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine with the University Of Tennessee College Of Medicine – Chattanooga Unit, where he has served as Chief of the Cardiology section since 1997.
Formerly with Galen Medical Group, P.C., Dr. Geer was director of non-invasive cardiology at Erlanger and director of the cardiac rehabilitation at the Chattanooga LifeStyle Center, an Erlanger program. Previous positions include chief of medicine at Humana East Ridge Hospital and director of the CCU at Erlanger, Humana East Ridge and North Park hospitals.
Dr. Geer earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Duke University and completed his internship, residency and cardiology fellowship training at Brooke Army Medical Center at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. He served in the US Army until June, 1985 and recently retired as a Lt. Colonel in the US Army Inactive Reserve.
The Erlanger Hypertension Management Center is the only program of its kind in the region, serving children, adolescents and adults through high blood pressure and vascular disease risk assessment, medication adjustment, lifestyle education and treatment of hypertension, cholesterol-related problems and metabolic syndrome (pre-diabetes). Dr. Geer joins Dr. Billy S. Arant and Karen Sarnosky, Nurse Practitioner, as part of the center’s specialized clinical team.
