Best Of Luck, Jerry Pace

  • Monday, September 11, 2006

Congratulations to Jerry Pace on his retirement after 40 years of public service with the Planning Commission. Having arrived at the agency only a few months after Jerry, I and many others came to appreciate his dedication to public service and calm demeanor so lacking in today's environment.

As many former mayors will attest, Jerry was quite the artist. Anyone who has received a proclamation from the city over the years probably has his work on their wall. He also recognized the value of the Walnut Strret Bridge through his work - long before it became a symbol of Chattanooga's resurgence.

Best of luck, Jerry, as you enjoy your retirement. I'm sure I speak for many of your friends in public service, among whom I am pleased to be counted.
