Ralph Carter, 87, of Chattanooga died on Tuesday, September 18, 2007.
A native of Rossville, Ga., Mr. Carter lived in Charleston, S.C. during World War II before moving and spending most of his life in Chattanooga. Mr. Carter retired in 1982 from Mars/Zeke Oil Company in St. Louis with 30 years of service and later worked for Favorite Market on Greens Lake Road in the early 1990’s.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Liza Carter and brother, Billy Carter.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Deborah Carter of Georgetown; five grandsons, Robert (Tammy) Carter; Phillip Carter, Danny Carter, John Ray Carter, JR. (Vicky), and David (Pauline) Carter; two granddaughters, Amber (Jonathan) Denton and Kathy Herston; nine great grandchildren; one great-great grandson; two sisters, Ruth Thompson and Jeanette Damon; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Reverend Art Jones officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
