Lawrence "Junior" Knipp, 80, died on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Olive Hill, Ky., to the late Selbert Cleo and Bessie Mae Smith Knipp. He retired from Cyclops Steel where he worked for 31 years as a "Crane Wright." He was a member of Local 169 United Steel Workers Union. He was a former resident of Mansfield, Ohio for several years.
He attended Victory Tabernacle in LaFayette, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mae Hedrick Knipp; daughter, Bonnie Jean Knipp; sister, Rose Kathleen Knipp; and a brother, Wally Knipp.
He is survived by his wife, Frances "Fran" Knipp, of Chickamauga; his children, Roy Lee Knipp, of Mansfield, Ohio, Mary Jane Bartrain, of Riversville, W.V., Allen Gene Knipp, of Mansfield, Ohio; brothers, Alfred Knipp, Roger Knipp; sisters, Norma Jean Artrip, Ruth Elders, all of Mansfield, Ohio; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday morning before the service.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chris Spears officiating. Burial will follow in Chickamauga Cemetery, Chickamauga.
