Taylor Newman, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, November 14, 2008.

He was originally from Sweetwater, Tn., before moving to Chattanooga in 1949. He was a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church and was retired from Tennessee Hotel Supply after serving as sales manager and buyer for over 33 years. He enjoyed showing racking horses in the Chattanooga area and was a longtime member of the Shrine Mounted Horse Patrol.

Taylor was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Newman.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Marketa and Roger Shutters and Tammie and Wayne Dickson; grandchildren, Roger and Hillary Shutters, Jessica (Nathan) Dalton, Kent Dickson, Sam Dickson; a brother, Jesse Newman of Lenoir City, Tn.; sister, Francis Wehunt of Athens; sister-in-law, Joyce Newman of Sweetwater; several nieces and nephews.

He is remembered for his love of his family and close friendships.

Services for Taylor will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the North Chapel with Dr. Bill Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. on Saturday and 1-2:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Ridgedale Baptist Church, Senior Adult Ministry.

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist.
