Chattanooga area residents have the opportunity to see one of the country’s top southern gospel groups this Sunday as the Triumphant Quartet is scheduled to appear at the Morris Hill Baptist Church in Chattanooga on Aug. 24 at 6 p.m.
Formed in 2003 as the Integrity Quartet, the quartet began their ministry together at the Louise Mandrell Theater in Pigeon Forge. After holding a contest asking fans to submit ideas for a new name, the group became the Triumphant Quartet in Dec. 2004. Theater ownership transitioned in January 2006, but Triumphant remained at the Miracle Theater, performing their own show several days each week to enthusiastic audiences. Beginning in 2008, the group left the theater to begin a nationwide tour.
The Triumphant Quartet is comprised of David Sutton, Clayton Inman, Scott Inman, Eric Bennett, and pianist Jeff Stice. The group members collectively have over 80 years of experience performing southern gospel music to fans across the country. Each member has been individually nominated multiple times for industry awards and the Triumphant Quartet has received many nominations for Group of the Year, Favorite Album, and Favorite Song throughout their history.
Most recently, Jeff Stice was recognized as the 2007 Stage Musician of the Year by his peers in the Southern Gospel Music Guild and Scott Inman received the Young Artist of the Year award during the 2007 Singing News Fan Awards.
There is no admission charge for the concert, but a love offering will be taken. Morris Hill Baptist Church is located at 1804 Morris Hill Road in the East Brainerd community of Chattanooga. The church can be contacted at 423 892-2071 or on the internet at www.morrishillbaptist.org.
