Vernon Edwin Elliott Sr., 71, died on Saturday, May 9, 2009.

He was born in Taylor County, Ky., to the late Herman Reid and Virgie Hines Elliott, and was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth R. Elliott.

He was an avid Billiards player and was inducted into Billiards Hall of Fame.

Survivors include his children, Stacy Elliott, Vernon Elliott Jr., Nora Elliott, David Elliott, all of Louisville, Ky., Kendrick Elliott, of Ringgold, Lisa Oxford, of East Ridge; siblings, Ivadean Alvey, of Gary, In., Mitchell Elliott, of Waynesburg, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; lifelong friend, Erica Elliott; and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at noon on Wednesday, and all day Thursday at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home in Fort Oglethorpe.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, at Bartle Funeral Home in Liberty, Ky. Interment will follow in Salyers Cemetery in Waynesburg, Ky.

Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
