Mark Making Project Reception Is Saturday

  • Tuesday, April 20, 2010

A reception for the Mark Making project, Wings II, will be on Saturday, at 2 p.m. at 2200 Glass Street. The reception will be for the artist participants from Hardy Elementary and Girls Inc. who created the Wings II murals.

Wings II is a Mark Making mural project done in partnership with Girls Inc. and East Chattanooga Weed and Seed. It is part of the Unbroken initiative of Department of EAC, City of Chattanooga.

Funding for the project came from Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga, the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga.

Officials said, "Mark Making strives to enhance the community through the creation of public art. We empower non-professional artists by teaching them 21st century problem solving skills through visual art education; for the city, we beautify visual landscapes; and for local artists, we provide teaching opportunities."
