Reception Held For Mark Making Project Wings II

  • Wednesday, April 28, 2010

A reception for the artist participants from Hardy Elementary and Girls Inc. who created the “Wings II” murals, will be on Saturday, May 1, at 2:30 p.m. at 2200 Glass St., at the corner of Dodson and Glass Sts.

“Wings II” is a Mark Making mural project done in partnership with Girls Inc. and East Chattanooga Weed and Seed. It is part of the Unbroken Initiative of the Department of EAC, City of Chattanooga.

Funding for the project came from Allied Arts of Greater Chattanooga, the Tennessee Arts Commission and the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga.

Officials said, "Mark Making strives to enhance the community through the creation of public art. We empower non-professional artists by teaching them 21st century problem solving skills through visual art education; for the city, we beautify visual landscapes; and for local artists, we provide teaching opportunities."
