Betty Jo Miller Dotson, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and devoted servant of the Lord, peacefully passed away on June 1, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on Jan. 3, 1943, to Clyde and Myrtle May Miller, Betty embodied kindness and faith from an early age, nurturing her love for Jesus Christ and instilling these values in all those around her.
Betty devoted her life to her family and her faith. August 10, 1958, she married the love of her life, Roger L.C (Tink) Dotson. Together, they built a beautiful life together filled with love, and unwavering support for one another. Her husband, Roger predeceased her in 2008 but remains forever in her heart.
A proud mother and grandmother, Betty leaves behind her four children, Roger (Lisa) Dotson of Soddy Daisy, Donna Dotson of Dayton, David (Sandra) Dotson of Riceville, Tn., and Tracy (Melanie) Dotson of Lenior City, Tn., and her six cherished grandchildren, Blake Dotson, Brad Dotson, Kecia Fowler, Jessica Dotson, Tiffany McCullough, Austin Dotson, and seven great grandchildren, Cameron Eheart, Alexis Davis, River Dotson, Palmer Dotson, Jamison Williams, Nolan Dotson, Serina Dotson, Bentley McCulloch, Bradlee McCulloch and many nieces and nephews who brought her immeasurable joy. She was known for her nurturing spirit, always providing a listening ear and comforting words for those in need.
Betty is also survived by her brother Jerry Miller, Sale Creek, and sisters, Evelyn Guy, Leesburg, FL and Shelia Clark, Dayton.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Myrtle May Miller, husband, Roger L.C Dotson, brothers, Thomas (Buddy) Miller, Jimmy Miller and sisters, Geraldine Brooks, Kathy Elkins and special friend Dot Carraway.
As a member of Walden’s Ridge Baptist Church, Betty dedicated her time to church activities and helping others. Her faith was her guiding light, and she inspired everyone around her with her unyielding belief in God. Betty enjoyed singing in the choir and fellowshipping with the widow and widowers’ group.
Betty's kindness extended beyond her family and church; she was a friend to many, offering her home and heart to anyone who needed support. Her warmth and laughter could brighten the darkest of days, and her legacy of compassion will live on in the lives she touched.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, June 5, at 2 p.m. at Walden’s Ridge Baptist with Rev. Danny Prior officiating, with visitation being held at the church from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Betty Jo Dotson will be dearly missed but will always be remembered for her faith, love, and the light she brought into the world. She is now at peace, embraced by the grace of God and reunited with her beloved husband.
