Sheriff Austin Garrett announced Gracyn Gordon is joining the HCSO as the agency’s newest public information officer in the Public Relations Office, effective Monday.
As public information officer, Ms. Gordon will serve a role in the HCSO’s Public Relations Office helping to coordinate media relations, assisting with the planning and execution of press conferences and public events, and managing various aspects of the social media platforms. Her responsibilities will support the HCSO’s ongoing efforts to maintain transparency, promote public awareness, and enhance communication between the Sheriff's Office and the citizens of Hamilton County.
Ms. Gordon brings with her a background in broadcast journalism. Most recently, she served as a reporter/multi-media journalist for Local 3 News in Chattanooga, covering a wide range of stories across the region since May 2023. Prior to her time in Chattanooga, she worked for WAPT News, the ABC affiliate in Jackson, Ms., and began her journalism career at WTVA in Tupelo, Ms., while attending the University of Mississippi.

It is essential that our county stays informed about the work we do each day, and the experience Gracyn brings with her will help ensure our operations continue to be accessible, accountable, and clearly communicated."
Gracyn is a graduate of the University of Mississippi’s School of Journalism and is originally from Oxford, Mississippi. Her dedication to public service and her background in storytelling make her a valuable addition to the HCSO’s efforts to keep the public informed and engaged.
