Mike Costello
Principal Mike Costello, CPA, ABV, CFF, ASA, CFE, and Managing Director Brent McDade, ASA, CBA, BVAL, both with Decosimo Advisory Services, made presentations in Miami Beach, Fl., at the 17th annual Consultants Conference hosted by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts and the Institute of Business Appraisers on June 2 - 5.
Mr. Costello’s presentation, titled "FINRA’s New Series 79 License and Its Implications on Business Valuation Professionals," provided detailed information related to the new Investment Banking-Limited Representative category which covers activities that many accountants and business valuation professionals have historically been involved with, such as selling closely held businesses, assisting with the sourcing of capital and providing fairness opinions.
Mr. McDade’s presentation, titled “Meaningful Financial Analysis and Supporting Normalization Adjustments," addressed the techniques that analysts and appraisers use to gain an understanding of the risks and expected future cash flows associated with a potential investment, including financial statement analysis, adjustments related to controlling and minority interests, and sources for and uses of comparable company data.
Mr. Costello is a principal with Decosimo Advisory Services, responsible for business valuation, litigation support, and transaction advisory services. He has more than 27 years of experience business valuations, business acquisitions and divestitures, and related fields, and his appraisals have been used in various courts.
Mr. McDade is managing director of Decosimo Advisory Services, providing business valuation, litigation support, and transaction advisory services. His experience includes the appraisal of equity securities, debt instruments, and derivatives. He has provided valuation services related to mergers and acquisitions, buy-sell agreements, fairness opinions, Employee Stock Ownership Plans, estate and gift tax matters, shareholder disputes, and marital dissolutions.
Brent McDade
