Closings Announced For Tuesday, Including UTC, Hamilton County Schools

The severe weather has already resulted in cancellations for Tuesday.

Unum was opening at 10 am.

UTC will again be closed. Chattanooga State is open Tuesday for selected staff only. Bryan College will have a two-hour delay. Dalton State will be closed as will Tennessee Temple University.

Schools closed include Hamilton County, Chattanooga Christian School, Grace Christian Academy, Silverdale Baptist Academy, Notre Dame, Baylor, Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy, Bachman Academy, Scenic Land School, Ooltewah Adventist School, St. Nicholas School, Standifer Gap SDA School, St. Peter's Episcopal School, OLPH, Richard Hardy School, Hickory Valley Christian School, Oakwood Christian Academy, Brainerd Baptist, Berean Academy, Sequatchie County, Rhea County, Polk County, Marion County, McMinn County, Meigs County, Bradley County, Cleveland City Schools, Dayton City Schools, Grundy County, Dade County, Dalton City Schools, Trion City Schools, Walker County and Whitfield County. Bledsoe County will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

All campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College will be closed on Tuesday due to severe weather. Day and evening classes are canceled.

Publix Super Markets planned to close at 4 p.m. Monday. Officials said, "We know the roads are treacherous and we want our associates who were able to make it in today to be able to travel home in the daylight. We have also decided to delay opening the stores until 9 a.m. Tuesday. This will allow those managers and associates who are able to travel to do so after daylight."

Hamilton County Assessor of Property Bill Bennett, County Trustee Bill Hullander, County Clerk Bill Knowles and Register of Deeds Pam Hurst announced that due to severe road conditions their respective offices will not open Tuesday. After conferring with law enforcement they "expressed concern for the safety of taxpayers and their office workers."

The Chattanooga Housing Authority delayed opening until 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Staff who cannot drive in will take a floating holiday.

The Sequoyah and East Ridge Transfer Stations will be closed on Tuesday.

Evening training classes at Play Dog Excellent have been canceled.

East Ridge city offices will be closed Tuesday due to continuing poor road conditions.

East Ridge Municipal Court is canceled for Tuesday night. Any person with a pending court case should contact the city court clerk office at 867-2701 to reschedule.

There will be no garbage pickup in East Ridge on Tuesday. Citizens should put garbage cans at the street when it becomes possible and crews will pick garbage up when it becomes practical.

Camp Jordan facilities, community center, and library will be closed Tuesday.

Preschools at the Downtown and J.A. Henry Family YMCAs will be closed on Tuesday.

The North River, J.A. Henry, North Georgia and Rhea Family YMCAs will be closed on Tuesday.

The Downtown, Cleveland and Hamilton Family YMCAs will be open Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Group exercise classes and pool schedules may be disrupted depending on the availability of Y staff.

The Chattanooga Library will be closed Tuesday.

Evening training classes at Play Dog Excellent have been canceled due to weather.
